I think he and/or family probably grew up Coot fans and the SEC is just
where any kid probably dreams of playing college football, the weekly competition, etc.
Also, the state flagship university where folks across the nation know where you are
is just a different level of relevancy, compared to say a "Vanderbilt", "Loyola", "Temple", Xavier" or "Climp5in"

First off, I couldn’t care less where Burch goes. It’s probably good he went to u is SC. Too much drama for me but he is certainly a talent.

Academically, I assume you do realize that u of SC is second fiddle to Clemson. Many Clemson grads were accepted to u of SC but chose Clemson. Many u of SC grads got a “no thanks” letter from Clemson.

So, the position coaches of the two 5 star recruits left the day after signing day? You have to love the effort to be honest and transparent with their recruits.
