    Default Vacuum Sealers?

What are you using? I thinking about getting one mainly for freezing meat.

    Thanks

Snatched one up from Sams Club. I think it was a Foodsaver brand.

Love it for BBQ and meat, not so much on fish or skrimps.....

I was gifted a Vacmaster chamber sealer. The thing is big and heavy. I will say that it does a great job, but for the amount I use it, it is not practical.

I've got a foodsaver that is 5+ years old. Works great for the most part. My biggest complaint is that if you are doing a lot of sealing that it will overheat and you will have to sit and wait for it to cool down. Like I said mine is several years old and there are definitely nicer and newer ones available so that problem might have been fixed. Otherwise it works great and mt buddy just used it last week to seal over 60 birds in 2 bird packets so he could eat throughout the year

Food saver brand. Not sure which model. We’ve put it through the paces though.

Bags are more important that the vac sealer itself. Don’t go cheap on bags.

Foodsaver and their brand of pre-cut bags. Damn good stuff!

Are the pre cut bags a big deal? Just easier to use?

    This.

I bought a box of cheap bags once. I will not make that mistake again.

My Cabela's vacuum sealer says for wet foods and meats like fresh game and fish, better to freeze it first. Not sure if that would help with your fish and shrimp, just passing along. I still pour water in my shrimp before freezing and don't use a sealer.

Easier. I buy the rolls and cut what I need.

We have a Cabelas pro model and use WalMart brand bags. I’m upgrading for higher volume. I posted the cabelas unit in trading post. Make me a fair offer.

Same here, except I got mine from Costco. The higher moisture content in fish and shrimp is what is problematic. The dryer you can get them the better results you'll have.

As others have said, do not go cheap on the bags

Food saver. After you bag and freeze, go back and make sure you have a good seal.

Most will have "wet" and "dry" settings. I always use the wet setting. Seals the edge hotter and longer. Some of the thicker bags won't seal well on the dry setting.

So if the seal is not good, can you reseal it or do you start over with another bag?

You can reseal if you left yourself enough room

Ziploc brand bags in the roll are a little cheaper and much heavier than foodsaver. My sealer has an area that holds a roll with a slide cutter to make any size bags you want quickly. I highly recommend that.
