    Default Louisiana Annual trip

I have good friends that are more like family that I go visit every year. I have been going for 24 years now some trips better than others but it's not about the killing for me anymore. I enjoy duck camp on the river for a week eating good food and spending time with family and friends. My nephews went with me again this year which was a blessing since I had only been out of the hospital 3 weeks after major back surgery. We ended up with 52 birds for the week and 8 different species which is pretty much common where we hunt. Water levels were right and saw plenty of beautiful holes that should have been full of birds but that was the only thing missing. Burnt some powder ate good food and managed to start my recovery from 2 more disc fusions to accompany the fusion from last year. There is nothing like duck camp on the river God is Good all the time.

    Very nice!
When it comes your time to die, be not like those whose hearts are filled with the fear of death, so that when their time comes they weep and pray for a little more time to live their lives over again in a different way. Sing your death song and die like a hero going home. -Tecumseh-

Great pics! Don't see many Louisiana pics on this site that don't come from Venice or Catahoula! There are definitely plenty of other areas in the state that hold good numbers of birds. They just aren't so well publicized, thankfully!
Living in Moncks Corner but looking forward to moving back to the West Coast in 2020 where there are more ducks and less duck hunters!! LOL

Delta in a nutshell: Breeding grounds + small wetlands + big blocks of grass cover + predator removal + nesting structures + enough money to do the job= plenty of ducks to keep everyone smiling!
