Default Aquatic Plant Management draft plan

    http://www.dnr.sc.gov/invasiveweeds/draftplan.html

"The S.C. Department of Natural Resources in conjunction with the Aquatic Plant Management Council is responsible for the management of nuisance aquatic vegetation in public waters. Each year an Aquatic Plant Management Plan is developed which identifies aquatic weed problem areas, describes management objectives, prescribes management strategies, and determines funding needs and sources.

The DNR and the Council seek public review and comment on the proposed Draft S.C. Aquatic Plant Management Plan. Comments and suggestions should be submitted to program staff at the email or mailing address to the left. All comments should be received in writing or by email at invasiveweeds@dnr.sc.gov by the closing date of February 23, 2020 to ensure that they are given proper consideration in the final plan. Please, no petitions will be accepted as this is not a voting process."

    Carp and chemicals.......

It's interesting to note the word "nuisance" appears to have been replaced by "noxious" regarding submerged aquatic vegetation.....that essentially encompasses ALL submerged vegetation whether native / non native, aka invasive, IMO. Well played.

    1. All carp captured have shown as below the standard for health , set as an indices of 1. In other words they are over stocking them and the fish are starving.

    2. Carp exclusion cages are showing that highly desired native submerged aquatic vegetation can and will regenerate when carp numbers are kept low.

    3. FERC permits require 10 % in aquatic vegetation , herbaceous is NOT aquatic and therefore Cypress and Gum trees should not be included in the 10%. To include as such is fraudulent as to permit renewal and requirements.

    4. Where spraying is required - DI Quat is non selective and moderately to highly toxic to many species from humans to inverts and ducks. Procella is selective and virtually non toxic per the ratings. Push for a switch over, just a far safer chem in general especially as to toxicity.

would be nice to get as many as possible to send something. A lot of guys complain on here or Facebook and will not do as much as send an email.

Be proactive about improving public waterfowl habitat in South Carolina. It's not going to happen by itself, and our help is needed. We have the potential to winter thousands of waterfowl on public grounds if we fight for it.

Isn’t it crazy how few “duck hunters and fishermen” you can persuade to do something other than talk about football and politics?

Yeah I know. They will type a complaint in a heart beat and do nothing more than talk and refuse to type a simple email.

Awesome. Would like to know if you get a response from your friend.

    It's actually pathetic.

If 20% of the members would do 80% of the "work", sending an email response, the SCDNR Aquatic Vegetation folks would still be overrun with responses from true stakeholders.

The problem is Chris Page’s response to that when flooded with Input that doesn’t fit the agenda....

    “It’s not a popularity contest.”

Either way, I just sent my email...........and it is in affect a "popularity contest" as there are certain, more popular person(s) with ties to the SCDNR that live on a certain lake and have grass carp restocking dropped off along the shoreline of "their" waterfront home. This is the good ol boy BS that needs to stop, all under the guise of "wildlife and fisheries management". It's truly sickening.
