Yea originally I thought I had made the cut this year to get some. Then I get an email about 3 weeks ago saying that I would not be getting any.

Are oval holes better for some reason?

Apparently a 3" high by 4" wide oval hole is supposed to provide better protection from raccoons than a standard 4" circle hole. I also thought I remembered reading where the oval hole cut down on other birds, like owls, using the nest but can't seem to find that written anywhere so I might have made that part up.

This crap makes no sense to me. When I left the Florence office to pick mine up, there's was like 3 unbroken pallets of boxes. The pickup window was from Tuesday the 14th thru Thursday the 16th. I show up the 16th, the last day, got my boxes/predator guards and couldn't help but ask... "if I'm here on the last day, and there are so many boxes left, did that many people not pick theirs up?" He said "no they just sent us way too many boxes." I think he said they had boxes left from last year's round!

So it confused me when people said they got rejected when there's an obvious overage of boxes sitting around not being issued. Make sense of that...

If y'all are east of Columbia, I'd call and ask Ginger Ridgill or Sam Stokes at 843-661-4768 to ask what gives on why someone couldn't go grab 2 or 3 if the have that many extras.

Thanks, I might go talk to them as the Florence office is pretty close to me.

I would think they'd use nails instead of screws to assemble these boxes. In my experience when I bought a few planks from the lumber yard in Alcolu and built my owns boxes, unless you predrill, those screws can and will split the wood.
