Just to keep them from being called as witnesses.

They need to call Schiff as a witness especially now that he's been named as one of the managers just to show he should have recused himself at the start of this sham.

I'm still pissed the Republicans didn't assume the same rules that the House used. It would be funny to see how they would try to call it unfair.

Part of me wants so badly to think that Nancy (everyone always says that she is a genius politician, and to be a genius politician, you must be a flawless actor) is so upset with the dumb-asses that wouldn't listen and stop whining about impeaching Trump against her advice that she is doing all this to punish the idiots that would not listen to her. Shifty Shiff will never again be looked upon as a serious legislator; he may win reelection in his district until he dies, but the damage to his legacy is done. All of his colleagues understand his dimness (he fell for a really bad performance: Russia pee phone hoax)as well as how untrustworthy, crooked, and spineless he is, and history will show him to be the ringleader of that completely one-sided, farce impeachment inquiry that was still not able to produce a plausible impeachable offense. Maybe Nancy stalled to highlight the fact that no-one believed the rush to impeach was about Trump being an imminent threat. Maybe she is naming Shiff, because she wants to see the Republicans in the Senate eat him alive and continue to highlight his idiocy in a forum where he must answer to his corruption vs gaveling the questions down and ignoring his opposition. Nadler? Same reasons?

I'd like to think this to be true, but I suspect she knows what I truly fear...that there are more swamp=dwelling R's in the Senate than most Americans think are still there, and while they have been quiet so as not to be outed, most Rs will refuse to go for the dem's jugulars and will allow this to cause as much damage to Trump as possible without giving the appearance that they are the swamp scum they are. If Shiff is prosecuting this sham case in the Senate, then I suspect that they will argue that he can not be called as a witness to answer for his collusion with the whistle-blower and abuse of power during the inquiry.

The Senate should simply dismiss this based on the fact that they are being presented with articles that do not meet the high standard of impeachable offenses...PERIOD. The house will, without a doubt, seek to impeach Trump again complete with more investigations and another sham inquiry; this will happen as soon as this trial is over whether the Senate dismisses or tries the case and acquits, so why the hell would the Senate waste one stinking minute on this mess? I will be very disappointed if they do not dismiss this right out the gate.

Since this is not a legal proceeding and is a political endeavor, the house and senate get to make up their own rules and processes; we saw this in the house inquiry farce. Since this is fact, I don't see why Mitch couldn't just spell out in the rules and guidelines of this impeachment trial that anyone they choose can be called as witnesses, regardless of their involvement in or position held in the trial itself.

Another wildcard that concerns me is Chief Justice Roberts. I've wondered if somebody doesn't have dirt on him, hence his bizarre stretch to make Obamacare legal.

He is Beta and doesn't have the balls to have his name on anything of importance. He was too much of a pussy to take the heat that media and congress would have thrown at him for making the Constitutionally correct decision.

They KNOW they will never convict him.

Pelosi has already changed her attack into "He IS impeached for life, he can never change that." She is trying to have the charge alone hang around his neck regardless of outcome.

What they may be able to achieve is to move the needle in public opinion going in to election year. The more shit you throw against a wall, it will stick with some voter somewhere. Politics is opinion driven, they are in it for elections.

The DOW doesn't think so. 29,056 at the moment.

Also, the list of witnesses should be both Bidens, the whistle blower, Adam Schiff, Rudy, and the Ukrainian prosecutor. If Mitch announces that, somebody will get suicided.

Proving the Bidens innocent will make Trump look stupid. The democrats should be all in for that...…………………….unless they know Biden is guilty.

Mitch needs to make them look stupid.

They just want to sling as much shit as close to the election as they can. Nothing happens to Trump, except another 4 years of slapping these idiots around and them wasting our money on bullshit allegations.

One phone call is not going to remove a sitting president. If the economy stays strong fence riders will vote Trump before a socialist or Biden.

Bolton and Rudy will make this a little rocky but not game changing.

To be clear I don't want them to call any witnesses, but would like to see them clearing Visas for the Ukrainians and announcing the Bidens, Ukrainians, and Shiff are to be called...…….and not Bolton. The meltdown would be epic.

The economy keeps humming and unemployment stays where it’s at, it’ll be like running unopposed. Most Americans don’t give a damn about this shit, they want jobs and money in their pockets. The only way Trump gets removed is if that old bag has the number to the fellows that set up the JFK job.
Yeah, but do you consider a dog to be a filthy animal? I wouldn't go so far as to call a dog filthy but they're definitely dirty. But, a dog's got personality. Personality goes a long way.

The Elites don't fear the tall nails, government possesses both the will and the means to crush those folks. What the Elites do fear (or should fear) are the quiet men and women, with low profiles, hard hearts, long memories, and detailed target folders for action as they choose.
