    Default Lab Shedding

My dog sheds like crazy all year long. I brush her with almost daily.

Seems there are 100s of pills and supplements out there for shedding prevention. And of course the old timers tell ya to feed her bacon grease and what not.

    Thoughts?

Mine only sheds twice a year. The first part of the year, and the second part of the year.

Some shed more than others, but they always shed. If dog hair bothers you get a doodle

We tried a couple different things and fish oil pills made the most noticable difference for us. We give her two in the morning and two in the evening with her food. She just eats them in her bowl so you don't have to shove them down the pie hole.

Labs have 2 shedding seasons...shedding and shedding worse.

Yep they all shed, some worse than others. Mine now only seems to dump his hair about twice a year. One I had several years ago I was amazed the dog had any hair at all left on him as much as he shed every damn day.

We have 3 and the amount of hair they shed is insane. We have all hard surface floors and my wife will go through the house twice a day with a shop vac on wheels.

When we had labs , my wife used a furminator brush and bathed them with the furminator shampoo and conditioner. I was skeptical at 1st but , it did help with the amount of shedding. . Here is the link to http://www.furminator.com/

Cleaning up hair behind a Chessie is much easier than a lab....the kink causes it to form into tumbleweeds against the baseboards and corners.

I had a little terrier that shed like mad. I tried every kind of supplement I could find to no avail. When I got married and moved into my wife's house, she decided to have the little guy shaved in the spring. Not only did he love being cooler, when his hair grew back, he didn't shed anywhere near as much.

Anybody ever relate it to dogs that predominantly stay inside vs outside? Always thought an air conditioned dog their system gets shocked more when outside during the summer. Or maybe outside dogs you just don’t see the hair concentrated as much.

Just run the vacuum more and won’t see it as much.

If you don't want dog hair all over everything, I suggest you give them the back yard. I love my dog and he loves the back yard.
