    Default Honda Rancher 420 issue

Honda Rancher 420- 2008- EFI, foot shift no dashboard display

Newer battery- good with good connections, started and ran today- turned off with key switch. Turned back on and no neutral light, oil light or EFI light- starter button was dead- headlights and tail lights came on bright.
Is this a fuse issue? If so where is it?
    Switch issue?
I don't have an owners manual.
Thanks for any help you can give.

Sounds like it's not in neutral.

it's in neutral- even if it wasn't the EFI and oil light would come on- kill switch is also in the correct position.

Yeah, but do you consider a dog to be a filthy animal? I wouldn't go so far as to call a dog filthy but they're definitely dirty. But, a dog's got personality. Personality goes a long way.

The fuse on my '13 Rancher is under the rear panel. Remove the seat and the panel over the battery. There is a little box on the left side that contains the fuses. IIRC, there are 4 (main, fan, lights, and something else).

I have no idea if that is your problem.

Could it be a chewed wire from rat?

We are dealing with this on a ‘08 electric shift. I started it and moved it out of container then I shut down by key. Went to go ride it and wouldn’t crank. One of the wires that runs in the harness was chewed. Everything worked except for shifting and starter switch. We jumped the wires and we got it running to get it home.

Internal battery wear, where the post makes the connection inside the battery?

I had this happen a few weeks back. Showed full charge, lights work, but hitting start did nothing.

I swapped it with another battery from another quad, and all was good.

I spent hours troubleshooting until I tried the other battery that was literally beside me...

Mine done the same thing a while back and it was a loose battery cable. If "felt" tight with my fingers, but when I used the screw driver it tightened up a full turn and issue was fixed.
