Must be a club full of lawyers.
When it comes your time to die, be not like those whose hearts are filled with the fear of death, so that when their time comes they weep and pray for a little more time to live their lives over again in a different way. Sing your death song and die like a hero going home. -Tecumseh-
I hunted that area in the 80s when it was WMA. Made my first bow kill on Dutchman’s creek. It was pretty good hunting back then.
If it ain\'t accurate at long distance, then the fact that it is flat shooting is meaningless.
There club houses or right down the road from house
Ton of members
I think that was one that Cpiper was a member of.

Rumor the mill club with a bunch of rules and the fee is too high.
Be patience and you find something better in the area with less pressure.
Plus Piedmont was running a tamie shoot at one time. Not sure if they still are.

I hunted with a club that has property on the left about mile marker 40 or 41. Lots of deer there.
Yep, he was the VP.
Most of the members have purchased storage buildings and turned them into cabins.
They do have a decent food plot program and the turkey hunting can be okay. It is difficult for new members because you cannot scout 2 weeks before deer and turkey season.
Pressure is heavy on weekends, everyone meet at 5am and draw numbers then choose stands. Kids draw first. About 1 in 10 members kill a buck 15” but most sit food plots

Just the overview of the rules was enough for me. No thanks.
Gettin old is for pussies! AND MY NEW TRUE people say like Capt. Tom >>>>>>>>>/
"Wow, often imitated but never duplicated. No one can do it like the master. My hat is off to you DRDUCK!"
Yeah, I saw the rules and the website and exited right out.
Just starting to look early, I had a 100 acre lease by myself but the owner sold it.
New owner has a son that wants to hunt it and they took possession 1/1/20.
Pulling my feeders and ladder stands from it on Sunday.
Anything within an hour or so of Columbia
No, I have that spot for turkeys. Two days ago

Gotcha. That would suck to lose a place like that with birds right before the season.
edit: You planting any plots?

If I am I’m thinking of the same tract you are talking about most of it is now county land. Was owned by family friends up until recently. I used to coon hunt it. There are several clubs that occupy that stretch as well as some wealthy out of towners. Why in the hell Fairfield county decided we need another industrial complex when we can’t even fill the one that was established 10 years ago, who the hell knows. It pisses me off. They are trying to “revitalize” the county but most of the sorry sobs won’t work regardless. Anyways luckily I have access to 800 acres in white oak. And another 1000 in Blair. But we are lacking in turkeys. If any of y’all have any leads for a club or property for turkey rights, I’m sure me and few buddies will be able to work something out. Appreciate cha.
I thought I posted this before, but I can't find it.
Here is the life of most hunting clubs or hunting leases:
1. Guys get together and lease some land. No rules, Couple of guys pitch in some stands work.
2. Somebody is not happy after year one and a rule is made. Maybe it is a buck size limit, or guest limit, or sign in agreement.
3. Year two, another situation happens an another rule is made.
4. Year three, new situations comes up and another rule is made. Additionally, one person is not working as hard as another to prep for the season. New rules.
5. John Does is hunting a stand that Larry put up and is corning. New rules and those two fight.
6. More rules, more pissed people. Etc.
7. Landowner starts to hear about arguments by lessees.
8. Clubs falls apart or landowner kicks them off due to the hassle.
9. Couple of guys lease some land with now rules.
Now what I wrote above may be a few years or a couple decades, but I assure you, the longer the club has been around, the longer the rules list. Eventually it gets to a point where it is no fun to hunt. It is especially no fund to manage. Moral of the story is....Keep is Simple. Keep it small. Keep it easy for the Landowner.
