It's not as bad as you think it is when you get your fingers stuck.

Well, as Glenn pointed out, I’d like to not lose any more fingers

I’ll take your word for it. But feel sure I’ll find out at some point.

With the offset jaws it doesnt hunt to bad. It will scare the shit out of you though, especially if you have it buried and doing one final check and touch the pan. Did that once. If you dont like setting with your hands use your feet. I have a buddy that sets them that way. He just steps on levers and leans over and sets dog. Slowly lift weight off until dog sets. After you set them a few times with your hands you will get use to it and not even think about it.

The MB line is great. Treat them (boil, rust, dye, wax or full metal jacket) before you start setting. They'll also get easier to set with time per a prior comment. Consider an auger attached to a drill for dirt holes. MB450s will suffice if you want a slightly smaller trap. I also recommend pan screens, rather than cotton or other setting tools.

Fixin to order this same starter kit. Would y'all still go with this kit? Anything else I need to order while I'm at it? Going to get a dozen dogproofs while I'm at it.

Yes. They are good traps right out of the box.

I’ve been using Hoosier Trapper for all my baits and lures lately.
