Or does a crio barrell take crio-plus chokes?

No they are not the same. The benelli Crio has threads are the end of the muzzle. Crio plus has its threads 3/4 the way down the choke. They are not cross comparable if that is what you are getting at.

I just picked up a montefeltro (not in possession yet).... It says Crio barrels but nothing about the choke system.
Looking at the M2 it says the same thing....are all the Benelli guns crio plus now?
Their specs seems to be vague in this respect especially considering the array of choke systems they have been through.

I am 95% sure the montefeltro is a Crio plus choke tube.

This is 1 of the chokes that came with the montefeltro I just purchased 2 weeks ago. Says criochoke but the threads are crio+

I have an early Benelli Córdoba that has regular crio chokes and can confirm Crio plus won’t work. I picked up a crio plus choke on clearance to try just to be sure and it was a no go.

Yes the one joshua2 has is a Crio plus. Same one that is in my new SBE3

They are in fact the same threads. The crio plus is longer. It will work in a crio barrel but the choke will extend beyond the barrel. This won’t hurt performance but it looks silly. Crio will not working in ciro plus because it’s too short
