A friend of mine bought one for his kids. They're neat, but I'd suggest trying to ride one for a bit before dropping a grand on one. Especially if you're getting some age on you...

I have age on me but I still have my skateboards. I'm old enough to know why they're called skateboards. I may still have a skate key or two.

I seen a guy in CLT crossing an intersection on one bust his ass. It made me smile.

The side to side is about the same as a board, but you control the speed by leaning forward and back. It's more akin to snowboarding than skating, imo.

You can ride off the road on either. You're not going through a soggy field on one, but hard ground off road is fine if it's relatively flat.

I'd go with a more traditional style...

    So the answer is no.

If it can't handle wet red clay it ain't all terrain in upstate SC.

Was surf fishing front side of Morris back in October and had a guy ride up on one of those gadgets...said he came all the way from the harbor side of the island. Said he could go 10-12 miles in the sand and about 15-16 or so on the flat top. He was getting after it...was surprised how quick the thing was.
