At the end of the year we have the following protocol for profit disbursement:
Priority 1 - Match all 401k contributions 50 cents to the dollar
Priority 2 - Profit sharing distribution into 401k up to 8% of total compensation package
Priority 3 - Discretionary bonus based on overall company performance
We have been lucky and have been able to share profit at all levels over the past 5 years. Hopefully this will continue as long as possible.
Not all of our people will voluntarily save/invest for their futures after work and it is very reassuring when they realize what has been done for them. We don't want anyone who has been working with us for 15+ years and have nothing to show for it.
