7.62x51 is the same as .308, but 7.62x54 or 39 is not and should not be put in any gun that says otherwise.

Isn't there some idea that one should not be used in the other due to pressure concerns? About like the 223 vs 556?
It's not enough to simply tolerate the 2nd Amendment as an antiquated inconvenience. Caring for the 2nd Amendment means fighting to restore long lost rights.
Commercial 308 can be loaded to slightly higher pressure than 7.62x 51. Not an issue unless you’re using a gas gun with an op rod like an M1A / M14. A true 7.62 chamber is throated a little longer. I doubt you’ll ever see any issues with a commercial 308 barrel, most have long throats.
With a bolt action just shoot and enjoy but don’t expect great accuracy.
If it ain\'t accurate at long distance, then the fact that it is flat shooting is meaningless.
