    Default Cabling For Home Network?

I need to run cables for a switch in my upstairs den and for new cameras. Cat5, Cat6 or what? I also need to pull a cable through a buried conduit out to my shop. Which type of cable do I use here?

This stuff is like speaking Chinese to me.

Yep you good with that cable. Don't forget your ends as crimping tool

For crimping on ends, get a RJ45EZ crimper and ends. They have through holes so you can run the wires all the way through and see that they are in correct order before you crimp them.

When you pull cables through conduit, remember to also pull another pull twine through for the next time you need to add something.

Have used with good results in the past to protect a stand alone pc at a customer site that was prone to lightning strikes. Install one at each end.

Doing the same with an out building but I’m installing 50 micron mm fiber as it’ll support much more bandwidth. 10Gbit

Use caution with the ez ends. The cut off tool doesn’t always cut the wire clean and can cause issues.

I never liked those short cut RJ-45s. It's not that hard to get it right and see what sequence all 4 pairs are in.

Installing the Connectors is a PITA. I got the supposedly larger ones for 23AWG but they’re killing me. What connectors to use for this direct burial cable?

Cat6 has been run and the switch is working fine. WIFI is an issue in that part of the house. Yes I have an extender up there, but still not great. Now that I have LAN line up there can I hook up another router or is there a WIFI repeater/ extender that will just plug into the switch?

I done the Google , but figured you nerds may have a more straight forward answer.

You can run another router or the extender.

What brand is your current router??
