Thanks bud, they were excited. They were both surprised at how docile he was.

The coyotes y’all post , and every one I’ve ever killed with one exception had what to me seemed like a good healthy coat. Is the difference in ours and those out west that big? Do the western ones have a denser coat? If so, is it strictly due to their climate?

Yes, the colder climate = better more primed furs. Ours here don’t endure cold winters like their kin.

I don’t make a dime of of trapping I do it as part of my wildlife management program on the properties I manage

If I was a coyote and I found a set I would shit next to it and lightly cover with dust.

But if that set was made by a good trapper, you wouldn't find it until it jumped up and bit your ass......

Interesting the differences between trapping here and other places. I was in TX recently and they snare. 9,000+ acre ranch. It's miles and miles of fence to run. Surrounded by two other ranches of 180,000 and 90,000 acres. We caught Javelina, Bobcats and Coyotes. All got the same treatment. Shot in the face and tossed in the mesquite.

We talked to the Ranch manager of the 180,000 acre tract. He only traps during certain times of the year ( Spring to help control fawn predation and winter after deer season is over) Strictly because it's a full time job for him to check snares. Hogs will tear up a fence if caught. Crazy place.
