During my many trips to WA, I have seen Harlis as far inland as Lewiston, ID on the river. The females will nest on the ground near water. A May or June Harli drake is vivid. I saw 10 or 11 double banded Drakes in about a 3 mile float on the Methow river near Brewster , WA years back. We saw hundreds of them that day. They are super cool. My biologist friend we were with claimed they were eating Salmon smolts.. don't know about that but they were definitely diving and feeding on something. It's a fast moving river fed by snow melt.
We kill them near Port Townsend. Awesome little birds.

Ugh. Stupid people piss me off.
Ate at the end might not be correct, but it sounds much more profound.
I wish I had more desire for a diver. They just don’t do it for me. All I see is a souped up bufflehead.

I got me one of those in the freezer right now along with a drake cinnamon if I can ever get my stuff together enough to take them to Fowlmouth!

I would have shot it with the game warden sitting with me.
There were a couple ringed teal killed in Bonneau Ferry this year on a youth hunt!
