    Default I-20 Birmingham Shutdown

If you're heading west through Birmingham you really need to look at their DOT website and make alternate plans. It's an absolute mess trying to get from I 20 westbound over to I 22. I 20 is shut down around mile marker 126 and you cannot go any further. On going bridge work.

Damn. I love swinging through Eagles on the way out there and making someone else drive after I eat as much oxtail as possible. Not sure if 65 is before or after that mile marker though.

Few weeks ago it wasn’t too bad, Waze took us straight through downtown and back onto 22. Really wasn’t bad at all. That being said I would try to time it where it wasn’t rush hour.

All of the bridges are out for refurbish. I blows my mind that they pulled all of them out at the same time. We are headed to Corinth, MS tomorrow.

    Nitro....Whats going on in Tupelo?

FWIW- there's a bridge on the NC/TN border that has unexpectedly started to fall apart. I suspect Thanksgiving traffic will be fun

That's honestly about the best route even if the interstate is open. I pretty much took that route and stopped in Wintzel's for oysters about every time I headed to my house in AL until I recently sold it.

It's a 10 minute adder if you don't hit the rush hour.
The bigger headache is them damn smokies on 22. I work that area about once a month and certain times of the day they are everywhere.
The folks don't use Waze as much around here as what i was used to in SC.

I was in Birmingham yesterday. It is a cluster, but manageable if you time it right to avoid rush hour.

Google maps takes you through downtown. It is not that bad. Not sure how fucking long it takes to rebuild the fucking interstate but they need to fix that mess.

Waze has never let me down and I run it on all road trips. Heck I even run it during the week to find the fastest route home at the end of the day with the cluster that 20 and 26 are in Columbia on a daily basis.

Thank you for the information. How far out of Birmingham is Tallapoosa? I've seen the signs but can't remember.
