The benefit is you can throw a boston butt or a brisket on one early in the morning, and then go dick off all day and not have to waste it feeding a wood burning smoker. I guess you could pour some liquid smoke over said chunk of meat and put it in the oven and accomplish the same thing....

The only reason I went with this one is that they touted its ability to get to 600 degrees.

Love my Traeger. I'll buy a BGE one day...just been putting it off. Also love my charcoal Weber. Need another little quick gas grill too to replace mine that's shot.

Basically these grills...smokers... and easy bake ovens, if you want to hate, are like boats and you need several to truly fit different applications. IMO

Exactly. I have a big charcoal grill, a little camping gas grill, and now this Weber thing. Going to do a brisket tomorrow. If it sucks, I'm deleting a bunch of posts and putting it in the trading post.

Well, I've used it a few more times. It's still hit and miss as to when it will randomly screw up. Last night I was heating it up and went inside to get some things ready. Came back to throw pizzas on it and it was at 80 degrees and shutting down. Had to do a restart. 45 minutes shot. After I bitched to Weber a few weeks back they told me that changing a few parts should fix it. They came in late yesterday, so I said I'd try it and report back. I'll update again in a few.

Still hate being a guinea pig. Shame on me.

Yeah - when it works, it's nice. My neighbor has had some wings, ribs, the brisket, and a prime rib loin that I cooked on it and he was about to go out and buy the smaller sized one. I told him to hold up.

Nothing is cool until 2th has it.
It's not enough to simply tolerate the 2nd Amendment as an antiquated inconvenience. Caring for the 2nd Amendment means fighting to restore long lost rights.
