    Default Boat Blind Build

Well, with the help of Phoneman and his shop, we were able to get my blind built. I had a frame I constructed out of conduit and Bimini top hardware. Phoneman helped get angles and heights set as this is a 2 man job. Once up, we wrapped it with a heavy tarp for a wind blocker. Covered with with 2 layers on f camp netting. One green and one desert tan. Next we lined the lower sides with grass panels and tied rafia grass onto the netting top. Will take a little tweaking to dial it in once I use it a couple times but I think it turned out pretty good. Don’t remember the costs in everything as I bought most of it last year but I know it’s less than $600 and definitely more than $80 as Bog suggested.

The netting is long enough to cove motor if needed and have another netting to drape over bow.

Looks great. Conduit is the way to go. Can make it fit your boat better than an off the shelf

Nice build but I’m actually more impressed with Phoneman’s shop...

Any particular reason you put the grass mats that way?

It collapses down and the grass stuffs inside the gunnels. Might trim some off so it’s just above the bottom of the boat. I’m sure some tweaking will be needed after using a couple times.

The grass has a cord that binds it together along that top edge. The bottom end is just loose grass so no good way to attach it to the blind frame. Roll the cord over the pipe and wire tie it and it causes some of the blades to flip up and point upwards.

I coulda built it for about 80$

Electrical Contractor buddy: scrap conduit (free)

Any boat yard with junk boats: Bimini hardware (free)

Any farming buddy with a mig welder (15$ for beer)

    Weld your framed conduit.

    2 11ft tarps from harbor freight (12$)

Camo netting from army Navy store (2 15x4 pieces) (40$)

    1000 zipties from Amazon (7$)

15$ for another 18 pack for you and a buddy to share while you brush it up with natural vegetation and moss.

......under 80$ if you do it sober.

You aren’t kidding. Makes me want to go clean my shop up. That place looks clean and organized.

What type and size conduit is that? The 90s look like pvc.
