Shoot your mossberg 20, it will kill ducks fine unless your are itching for a reason to buy a new gun.

They make bottom fishing gear that costs more than a B gun

Who discourages someone from buying a new gun? He’s already got a wife. Buy a new gun. I’m assuming you have kids or are planning to, Bart. They are going to need a gun.

Find a gun that fits you and one that you feel comfortable shooting, don't discount your habits from shooting the same shotgun for many years.

make a list of must have features that a gun should have for waterfowling.

    1. Camo - helps a lot
    2. Synthetic - Rough use
    3. Nickle/Chromed barrel - requires less cleaning during long trips
    4. Steel Shot

Once you have the base features, go to a shop and mount different makes that have the required features....Whatever fits the best, buy it.... Don't buy used guns...don't buy cheap guns.....I personally prefer A400 extreme as its soft on recoil and if you're into volume shooting, it makes a lot of difference but its at a higher price range.... I've customized it.... 9+1 lol

A300 is a budget gun and i've abused it for years(approx. 40,000+ rounds)never failed to function....

Fair point, as is SouthernWake's. I figured 20# wasn't enough umph, so it's good to know I can work with what I've got for the time being.

Do any of y'all prefer 20# to 12#? If so, why?

100% of killing a duck with a shotgun is hitting it.

I prefer a 12 for Duck and Goose hunting, but it's certainly not required. Your ammo choice can make a big difference as well, as far as if you choose to shoot plain ol steel shot or a denser shot of some type. An exception, for me personally, is shooting woodducks in local swamps and timber type holes were it's very up close shooting...then I carry a 20.

Everything else I prefer a 20 for, from Turkeys to doves, quail etc.

Only once in the face that stung that actually hurt. Braces, I got hit in the bottom jaw with braces, had to pull my cheeks off of them. I was pretty fiesty growing up, can't say I swung at too many people after that. I was close to 18 and it was time to grow up.

He's right, a 20 is more than enough. If you are used to shooting your 20, then I would stick with it.
