    Default Rookie mistake . . .

Checked a creek bottom on the club and found a lot of buck sign, only tree that really worked without having to go back in and do a lot of trmiming had a poison ivy vine on it as fat as a beer can. Cut it at the bottom and when I pulled it back from tree a bucket of vine dust blew all over me. Now I have poison ivy rash all over my face and covering both hands. It hasn't really blistered up just feels like sunburn when touched and skin is rough. Must have gotten some in one eye, it's itchy and leaking constantly. Tomorrow will be a week, i think I'm past the worst of it. I'm going back in February and killing every damn vine in that bottom

I can't catch it. Chessbay told me he couldn't one day while we were sitting on the side of a creek bank full of it trying to pick off a deer. I mean we were teenagers so I was going to check for him, I wiped a leaf across his face.. he found out he could catch it that day.

    Ouch man. Not fun.

When I was about 8, I got a machete from the flea market.

I promptly went into the woods as you do, chopping everything I could find. In the process I essentially aerosolized Poison Sumac and was covered head to toe. After that, I steer clear without long sleeves and gloves.

Go to the doctor if it’s in your eye.

rookie move.....worse time of the year to contract the ivy.
Never pull an ivy vine off a tree especially if you've been sweating!

Not allergic myself. I have heard from one person that you can become allergic. Best of luck to you.

I will never forgive you for that. I’d never gotten it until then.

All parts of the plant contain urishol. Dead or alive. And you can react up to several weeks later. I had it for two months on my arm last year. If it bothers you too much, strouds are your friend

Although it’s frowned upon. Hot water on ivy rash will bring you to your knees it feels so good.

Clorox is what my granny used to treat it with.

Steroid shot and cream from the doc will get it quick.

That sucks. I would go to the doc and get the steroids. I react to it these days, but usually takes about 5-7 days for any symptoms to appear.

Before you go down there to get rid of it cover any exposed skin with "technu". It's a soap that will protect you from getting it and I swear by it.

Bleach and a Brillo pad. Scrub it. It will work but you can’t be a puss.

Go get a cortisone shot. Be gone in 3 days

It's passing, I can ignore the itch, between the fingers is the most annoying part. If it isn't better by Wednesday I might look into the shot, thanks
