Chrysler calls it multi-displacement system. It’s like GM’s AFM where it drops from V8 to V4
2013 Ram 1500 5.7
Lifter collapsed, didn’t pump up and took the cam out. The ridge on cam was cut down so much that it was sharp as a razor.

More fuel = more boost!!
Is there any truck worth having out there ?
One dodge in Ten years ain’t going to keep the doors open. Thank God for Chevy and Fords
So just like GM, I can disable the MDS for 200.00
This is no range device in the obd connector that stops the v8 light from flipping to v4. I go into the ECM and flash it with no foot print.
We have not had near the failures on Chrysler like we have GM.... but the MDS lifters and cam is about 4200.00 because of the parts cost is double what GM kits are. The LS stuff is so popular the cost has come down due to sheer competition.
Food for thought....

Is the 5.0 the most reliable out?
"And ignoring people on here....that's like being home schooled. Just say you're not ready to face life." Highstrung
My opinion on Ford overall yes
Far as manufactures go that would be tough and matter of opinion. I said I’d never buy a Toyota, but all we do is maintenance on the Tundras. Some 5.7’s the cam towers leak oil but they don’t have turbo’s with direct injection or AFM/MDS issues.
