It's not what those guys call tack drivers... but Browing BLRs are pretty to me, I've got one in an 30-06. I do actually own a couple non wood stock guns, there is only one I shoot from time to time though, it's a Sako.

I second the the BLR and Ruger #1. International on the 1. The BLRS finish is almost too pretty. Synthetic rifles are soulless.

I’ve been looking at Model 1895 Winchesters and just read an article in which the author referenced how much Thomas Whelen liked the gun. He said when he was hunting in BC his handloads were getting 4 MOA out of the rifle and he was pleased with it. I think his definition of accuracy might differ slightly from our’s today, haha.. I couldn’t imagine a 4 MOA rifle.

I personally like the Winchester Model 70's that were made by FN I have one in a 270wsm and its a great gun. I also have a Remington model 700 Sendero which has been a great gun as well, and I just recently purchased a Mossberg Patriot in 7mm-08 for my son and shot it to sight it in and have also shot two deer with it in the past week and it so far is extremely accurate for the price and I just spent the extra money and put a really good scope on it.

Don't have a picture of it but my dad has shot a Winchester Model 70 Featherweight since before I was born. He takes great care of that gun and it looks brand new. I have always thought it is a fine looking rifle. Helps that it has killed a lot of deer too!

True. Pretty but generally have accuracy issues. My first deer rifle was a Ruger model 77 in .308 with the manlicher stock. Cool gun but far from accurate.

A Steyer Scout .308 has soul, in my opinion. It's soul is black though.

I bought one when Winchester started building them again 15 or so years ago. It’s pretty much all of shot since then and I doubt I’ll ever shoot anything else. ABA96652-12BE-416A-B8F8-1383C4916361.jpg

Sure, but Whelen thought the '03 Springfield was the height of accuracy.

I don't need 1,000 yard, synthetic stock rifle to kill a pine goat and neither did Whelen. They're as accurate as a laser level and just as pretty.

I haven't hunted deer with a rifle less than 70 years old in over a decade. Not everybody likes what I like, and that's cool.

But if its me and my choice, I'll grab a Mauser out of the safe every time.

    Stone cold truth.

My favorite classic is still my sporterized Swedish Mauser. It's killed more shit than polio.
