Default What is Inshore this time of year

I usually deer hunt hard in the fall but now that I have this boat I want to take a few days off and get on the water again. Planning on heading to Myrtle, either Little River jetties or Murrells Inlet.. anything I should know for this time of the year? Any tripe of rig to use, artificial vs live, species to stick to, etc. I知 in my high tide 1503 so I知 staying inside the jetties wherever I go.
    Anything would help thank you.

There is no need for bait. White Vudu shrimp under popping cork is the ticket for trout.

Can't speak for that area, but the fall bite in SC is amazing. Bait is heading out fish start schooling up and coolers can be filled. Zman plastics on Trout eye jig heads or any type of fake shrimp under a popping cork around oyster mounds is killer. Try Vudu they float well. If you catch one fish chances are there are many more in the same 10 feet circle of water.

Ok thank you. How does air temp effect the fish in the fall? I’ve fished the area a lot on the summer with friends but never had a boat to fish in the fall or to actually start tracking stuff.
Next week is going to cool down hard. Would that slow the bite at all?

I love some rainbows. I have lots of family upstate and that’s always fun hitting the rivers up there

Trout eye jig head and swimmin' trout trick. Find clear water with oyster shells and swim slowly or bounce along the bottom. Catch trouts.

I have been doing well on the white vudu or white with chartreuse tail. Be prepared to try different colors. Temperature should not affect the bite. If anything, slow your retrieve down if casting grubs.

Are you using weighted heads and jigging off the bottom or slowly reeling in above the bottom?

About everything is eating inshore right now. To keep artificial fishing as easy as possible I would recommend:

Paddle tail soft plastic of your choice on a 1/4 jig head, cast out and straight crank it back in
Popping cork with a gulp shrimp on a jig head underneath.

1/8 to 1/4 jig heads depending upon depth and current. Any small creek mouth on outgoing tide with a visible rip should be holding trout. Cast in the current and in the eddies to locate where they are hanging. If you don't get in them within ten minutes, move along to the next one until you find them.
I have been finding bigger trout on more subtle rips away from the bank where there is a good 5 to 6 foot shelf. The bite can be very subtle.

Palmetto.. nice! You mind sharing what you used? I’m sure I can figure out where you got em.

How’s about the speckled trout bite, anyone use plastic grubs or mainly just minnows?

Inshore is crazy right now. Caught over a hundred fish the last 3 days. Live shrimp under a cork long grass lines and live shrimp and mud minnows on a jig head around docks. Also caught some on paddle tail grubs in opening night color on a quarter ounce jig head.
