If it doesn’t start with a whole bird and rice cooked in the stock, it ain’t bog or pilau. And save the tomato for a slice on the side if you can’t live without it. It’s not jambalaya.

I’m from the upstate but my people are from Beaufort. My family recipe has been passed down 5 generations and I will put it up to any test!

Chicken and rice is chicken and rice. Bog has sausage and onions.

and bog has the consistency of just that, a ‘bog’. The rice sticks to the spoon. Not fluffy. And it has sausage & onion.
And you better be picking some bones out of it. And save me the crunchy scraps off the bottom of the pot so i can soak it in crystal and mash my cornbread up in it.

My neighbors at Pawleys Island from Andrews would always slice up some boiled egg and stir it in with their wooden paddle at the end. Gots to have a paddle for proper bog. Anyone else seen the boiled egg?

My brother in-law puts them in his, I've never put them in one that I've cooked.

Highstrung's eye is twitching, as he is thinking about people "necking up" a risotto.

I put the best quality shaved Parm and Mushrooms I can find in my Risottos. It makes rice a little more palatable. What did Glenn call rice ?? Glue?? Hahahahah

1st one looks like chicken bog. I don’t know what the rest of that bullshit is. Upstate gumbo??? Lowcountry chicken and bullshit?? Midlands we can fuck up chicken and rice???
Chicken, rice, Hillshire or Roger Wood sausage, onion, salt, pepper. That’s it. It needs no improvement. Anything else and you’ve fucked it up.
Home made pickles and a slice of white bread on the side. Hot sauce if you have Negro tendencies.

Get the best fresh Porcini or BabyBellas you can find. That recipe came from Brennan's in New Orleans. My youngest loves that dish.

I won't say exactly, but you made a comment very close to that. I laughed then, but even more this time. Add the plastic spoon comment, and it might be more than I can bear.

I’ve eaten a bunch called bog or perlo (pilau) , the best I had was made by a buddy of mine’s grandmother, she was from Hemingway. Hers was smoked sausage, Wood duck, speckled butter beans and rice. It was unreal good.
Mrs Powell said it was real perlo. Idk as an upstater.
