I own a heavyweight coat or two but rarely use them.
I prefer layers and go with a shell as my waterproof outer layer.

I have had my Cabela's waterfowl coat, not jacket w/Gore-Tex for 30 years. Been in some bad, really bad weather and never once got wet. It will hold everything and then some. If you ever run up on one buy it. They will last a couple of lifetimes. Brown camo of course. Ol school. I just remember I paid a lot of money for it new for 30 years ago.

I've got a waxed wading vest that smells like a wet dog has been sleeping on it for the past 6 months. Where can I send it to get it cleaned and rewaxed?

Sitka will soak you wet. New gortex ain't worth a crap. Macks pw sells a wool pullover sweater that has windtamer in it, it is very warm for 100 bucks. That with a good liner jacket is the way to go imo.
