Default Epic hunt this am with my BIL and Nephew

Fam was in town while the season was out for the split in my county. After failing to find birds/water for two days, we went to the res on top of the mountain to look around. We found thousands upon thousands on a huge res that looked like a lake on mars. Found a smaller side pond and marsh, and went after them this am. In the bowl, protected from the wind, it was 25 degrees at 7000+ feet and blowing sideways snow, and steady 40-50 mph wind. Out of the bowl, it was blowing a steady 50-60 with gusts well above hurricane strength winds. We managed a decent strap for simply laying on our backs in 12” grass and water. I shot one with the wind behind her that folded dead over my head and landed in the opposite bank well over 100yards away. It was not a meat hunt, but it was certainly epic. Pics and video to come.

Sounds like an insane hunt! Look forward to the video!

You can see the pain on his face! I have no idea how to post video, and Taptalk is for techie youngsters...gives me a damn headache. So...just imagine Jim Cantore broadcasting live from a cat 1 hurricane in camo with snow instead of rain holding a mixed strap of Mallards, gadwalls, GWT, BWT, and shovelers...’bout sums it up. The pic is a pretty spot down the road where we stopped to re-beer.

That fella needs to put some clothes on. These stories make me want to leave South Carolina for a month or three.

All the other clothes we had were wet/frozen. Him being 16, we made him go pose for the pic!
