Default Circuit Court Rules Civil Asset Forfeiture Unconstitutional

This ruling presently only applies in that court, but the case will go higher. Hopefully the laws are changed as they should be, and like other States have done.

    From the article...

► Nearly 800 times when police seized money or property, no related criminal charge was filed. In another 800 cases, someone was charged with a crime but not convicted. As part of recent reforms, 15 states have made forfeiture dependent on a criminal conviction; South Carolina has not, though efforts to reform the practice are ongoing in the state Legislature.

Even knowing how corrupt the government is, it's still incredible that they could take your stuff without even being charged with a crime. That's enough to turn an innocent man into a criminal. And when I was just wanting to give the media a little credit for doing something good, they throw out that very misleading stat about populations percentages.

Everyone who engaged at any level with this theft should be prosecuted to the fullest extent.
