That's a big one. Not that it matters but where are you thinking the hit was? Lower than you thought? Sure seems to help me when I know what happened. That would bug me as much as loosing a deer and having both at the same time sucks.

Shot was high, the pics on the 2nd page show the entrance and exit hole. Looks like the arrow deflected off the spine and exited between his shoulder blades somehow. I’m surprised he grew from last year. He looks to be 4 or 5 inches wider with more mass.

Get on the Ranch Fairy’s “adult” arrow program this year and buzz right through him next time. Never dreamed I’d be shooting 600+ grains but his logic is believable.

That arrow was 623 grains at 72 pounds.

I did however drop down to a 500 grain arrow this year so I don’t have to change my sight tape for hunting out west. I beefed up my broadheads from the Magnus black hornets to Iron Will wides for this year though.

Dang!! I wouldn’t have thought a lead pipe like that would have deflected so much. Crazy things happen when you turn an arrow loose on these paranoid deer here in SC

It shocked the hell out of me too. I still don’t know how it didn’t bend that fmj.

Ducking and turning away would explain that arrow path. What fps on your set up? A 600 grain arrow has surely gotta be slower even at 20 yards. I run a 400gr on a 270fps and works fine outside operator error.

That setup was 255fps, that was 72 pounds at 29 inches.

Will do. So far they look promising, still shaving hair after 30+ shots in a target and grouping with field points at 40 yards with a not so perfect bareshaft tune.
