We can be energy independent and are closer than ever. However, the goobermint will continue to support them as long as they’re selling us their oil cheaper. Once those taps run dry or S.A. tries to gouge us, they’ll pull the plug on aid. Double edged sword with those people, they’ll lie to your face and stab you in the back. Once their usefulness is gone the US will walk away.

I agree with a lot of what Bog said.

Every time Trump does something to phuck over the war hawk machine, he'll do something like this. Baffles me. Then, I remember how disappointed folks were with Reagan when he appointed SDO to the SCOTUS. Seems like every president breaks promises. I remember Jerry Falwell took a lotta shit in the press for being a Reagan cheerleader, given SDO's record on abortion. He looked crestfallen in interviews when asked about her appointment. But I digress:

The only opinion piece I’ve read on the move basically said we were bucking up the Saudi oil fields to thwart an Iranian move on them... plus the apparent fact that the Saudi govt is on the brink of falling apart. Put those two together and I guess I can understand it as a stop-gap measure.

I don’t understand enough of the Turkey/Syria/Kurd issue to say much, but something tells me there’s more to than we’re hearing, which usually turns out to be the case.
