    Default 20 gauge 2 3/4 in a beaver swamp

So I’ve been thinking about the idea of shooting a 20 gauge in the swamps. I have an older franchi 20 gauge and it’s a 2 3/4 gun, and has an improved cylinder barrel. Any of y’all shoot 20 gauge 2 3/4 when duck hunting? My longest shots are 30 yards but most of the time the ducks are in my face feet down at 15 yards. As far as ammunition goes I’ve seen some Winchester dry lock #4s but haven’t seen much else in the stores.

Are you shooting 2 3/4 shells? And how does it handle the occasional mallard? WhAt choke do you shoot? I shoot a full in my 12 ga just because that is what works for me.

Light modified. No problem with mallards.

I have my great grandfather’s original 870 wingmaster 20 gauge 2 3/4” gun. I have shot a lot of ducks with it. It helps that it has a poly choke on it but you should be just fine with the gun you have just pick your shots.
    For the ducks

Thanks for all the help fellas. I’m probably going to buy a few different boxes of shells and pattern them at 15 and 25 yards and maybe shoot some skeet. I’ll post pics with results when I do it if anybody might be interested.

There's really no need to pattern a shotgun at 15 yards. It's not going to tell you anything meaningful.

Find some 2-3/4" steel 6's. Shoot the ducks
Them that don't know him won't like him, and them that do sometimes won't know how to take him

He ain't wrong, he's just different, and his pride won't let him do things to make you think he's right

I wouldn't take a squirrel gun on a real duck hunt.

Dont most manufacturers say to not shoot steel through a full?
Anyone else doing this? Just curious.

Good point. Probably a waste of time.

Gun manufacturers, ammunition manufacturers, or choke manufacturers?
