    Default Orvis Stuff?

How the quality on their new stuff? Still the same as when Grandpa wore it? Or now Chinese crap like most other things?

Like what? I mean I've got some of their soft feeling shirts and trout bum things. It's not like I really expensive but I like it all. Those button-up long-sleeve shirts from a few years back had their top buttons in awkward placings.. the collars were a touch tall also. Their polos back then also fit different on me, I just didn't gel with them. Years ago like 20 i feel like I liked their pants more, most of them now are dad style. I don't have any of their newer briar pants though.

Unlike our resident fashionista, I like Orvis polos (have one on now) and have several pair of the new "Dad style" trousers. My wife and sons key in on Orvis for gifts for me.

WRT OP's question, it's close to original quality but with a technical fabric focus. I'm happy with the upland jacket and briar pants I bought a few years ago. However, neither are as good as the Orvis Ventile coat and pants I wore until I got fat. Sadly, Orvis stopped caring Ventile fabric products about 10 years ago.

    FWIW,

Orvis still claims all their products are made in the USA.

I like what Simms, Stio, and Kuhl are putting out for casual wear. Orvis quality doesn't seem the same. Their vintage stuff can still be found on Poshmark/Ebay.

I feel all gangsta in Kuhl's casual looking pants. I mean I own a couple of pairs. I have the new aged material stuff, so I have to watch out when I wear it.. if static is around I just can't do it. I wear some Marmot shirts, a lot of patagonia - it's well made, and polo still. I don't feel like a hipster in patagonia, no like a poser because I've worn their stuff before these teenage kids were born that are wearing their stupid looking trucker hats.

I got an Orvis summer-weight sport jacket because it was advertised as "non wrinkle"....it's the only sport coat I've got that actually wrinkles...

I have an Orvis Reel that I bought about a year ago. Made in China for sure. Not all their products are US made.

It doesn't seem like the quality of the Gokey boots that Orvis sells has dropped. I just got a new pair of the Ultralight 8" boots that seem every bit the same quality as boots from years back. Great everyday boots.

Probably because the Gokey Boot company still makes the boots. Orvis merely sells them . Gokey factory is in Minnesota.

Yes, I know. I was merely saying that they are still great quality boots.

Correct since Orvis bought them. I went to the original factory many decades ago.
