    Default Scraping popcorn ceiling

This new house we're getting has popcorn ceiling throughout most of it. We got a quote on getting it scraped out, refinished, and repainted. What's a good rate per square foot for this? Just trying to make sure I'm not getting bent over.

I got a guy that does it for $1.00-$1.25, I’ll let him do it for that all day long. You couldn’t pay me $10.00/sf to do it. Most of the time we drywall over it.
Yeah, but do you consider a dog to be a filthy animal? I wouldn't go so far as to call a dog filthy but they're definitely dirty. But, a dog's got personality. Personality goes a long way.

I enjoyed scraping ceilings in my parents house when they upgraded. We used a sprayer with warm water and it peeled off like butter. Kind of satisfying.

True. I have had that happen. It sucks.

Charlie, you may know this, but a paint sprayer is a good tool for removal. Spray water in about a 3 x 3 area and hit it with a big drywall knife and it comes right off. If its been painted forget about it. The water won't penetrate the popcorn.

Quarter inch drywall over the popcorn or full skim after scraping are really the only decent options if you want a quality finish.

We pulled and hung new drywall in our house when we renovated.

Ours had multiple layers of paint on top of it though.

They're removing, skimming, sanding, and repainting.

I did my entire house. I left the closets popcorned. I’ve done a lot of stuff in my days from roofing to carrying brick you name it. I’d do those all day long over anything that involves Sheetrock
