    Default Personal injury attorney advice

    Here’s the scenario:

    A. Person is staying in a hotel in South Carolina but does not live in South Carolina. He is in the hotel lobby and goes to get coffee. As he approaches the coffee station, his head grazes a large wooden sign above the station, which falls and hits him.

    B. He notifies the staff and goes to the ER. No broken shoulder, but follow up with a doctor. Appears later that there is nerve damage.

    C. Insurance company for hotel denies claim stating that it was his fault because his head caused the sign to fall. His approximate height is 6’2”.

Should he hire a personal injury attorney? If so, does it need to be one licensed in SC?
Any knowledgeable advice would be appreciated.

Shit happens. Hotel did not intentionally hurt the person. Would take a piece of shot person to try to sue over an accident like that. Those type people are what's wrong with this country.

Shitbags like that are why it's hard to get access to a private pond these days or hunt someone's land.

Your scenario is common . No broken bones, but now nerve damage. Goin to hard to prove nerve damage wasn’t pre-accident. Got a long and drawn out case and in the end , they may pay ER bills. Good f-Ing luck, they all crooks

Yeah, but do you consider a dog to be a filthy animal? I wouldn't go so far as to call a dog filthy but they're definitely dirty. But, a dog's got personality. Personality goes a long way.

“Well that was graceful, dumbass. Get your face out the phone and watch where you’re going.”

negligence will have to be proven on the hotels end.

Tell your friend to quit being soft. Everyone on this site has nerve damage from one thing or another. I’d be ashamed to admit I received mine from decorations.

I’m loving these responses. No sarcasm intended. I kept my word to look into it.

Is nerve damage hindering his mobility, if not. He will pay out his ass with different doctors and time to prove he has damage but not enough for a lawyer to take the case.

No idea. I tried to keep it simple with the questions. I hate talking on the phone.

You won’t have a problem finding a lawyer to take that case.

Well, I'll tell you my experience as a small business guy. About 15 years ago, a tall guy, about 6'6'' walked into our place of business and his head hit on a chandelier. Video caught it all. He laughed, finished his business, and walked out. A few weeks later we were served. Nerve damage, loss of work, the whole nine. Iirc, insurance gave him a check for $35 k.

It makes my BP spike just typing that.

Sad this is even a real question. If you are 6’-2” and a sign is 6’-0” duck under and get your coffee. If you fail to duck take accountability for you own failure.

    Situational awareness.
The strongest reason for the people to retain the right to keep and bear arms is,
as a last resort, to protect themselves against tyranny in government.
