    Default Oh well!

Have the best looking millet field we have had in 20+ years, no doves. Been checking this week and nothing has shown up. Had 11 on the line this afternoon and just decided not to shoot tomorrow. Hopefully some show up later. Local neighbor always has a great sunflower field, and looks like he has very few. Hopefully they show up later. Upstate guys how is it looking?

Looks rough on our end of town,
We don’t have many birds at all, my cousin about a 1/2 mile up the road had some decent sunflowers and was holding some birds up until last week but they disappeared on him

    Default Oh well!

We had about 5-600 two weeks ago. Our numbers are down to the 2-250 area now. We lost them after the cool nights last week.

Our field is millet and 2 weeks ago covered up however 2 fields nearby with sunflowers.

Not seeing a lot of birds on any of them.

We will have enough to shoot and if not cooler of beer and cigars.

Probably skip next Saturday and shoot it first thing Sunday am. Then I plow it up and fix food plot for deer

Been out about an hour. I've seen about 6 birds...

Got 10 guns, no one has pulled the trigger.

As I mentioned checked our field Friday, Saturday, and Sunday afternoons with very few birds. Decided not to hunt today just because none were there. Decided to go fishing today instead, after fishing decided this afternoon around 5:45 to ride up just to see if anything was going on. Field was full of doves, what in the world. Guess some finally found our millet, hopefully they will hang around til next weekend. Guess as they say doves are gonna do dove things when they want to. Kinda funny-but not really.

Worst opener we have had on our field. If you could shoot, you got a limit. I could not.

Shot 10 and should of had a limit. Had a decent shoot for not having a dove field, they were just coming to drink in a flooded spot in a beanfield.

Ended up getting to shoot at my cousins, they had more doves hanging around than they realized.
Got there around 4 and had a spot next to a young’un that was emptying the gun at everything that flew within 100yds but he was having a blast and I guess that’s all that matters. One guy left and I slipped over to his spot and I ended up with 10 birds. I was pretty happy considering the fact that until this morning I wasn’t even planning to shoot today.

Same on our field. Just not a lot of birds. 5 of us hunted. I shot 8 times and killed 4 birds.

All we had were singles and no groups, field above us that swapped over to sunflowers this year sounded like a damn war

Hate since we had 2 young teenagers on the field and felt like we let them down, heck one of them shot 25 times and I don’t think he killed a bird .

Not sure we want to go to the trouble for sunflowers though, we just shoot opening day and maybe one other day and then turn it into a food plot mid sept
