Default prescription meds missing when picked up from pharmacy

We have a thief in our local pharmacy- a few times we have run short on meds, the stuff you have to sign for. Last refill my wife came up 34 pills short (out of 60) when we got home. Immediately called her doctor to get her in the loop- then called the pharmacy- which claims innocence.
We will be counting at the counter from now on, and if short I will call 911 immediately.

What other steps should I take?

Have dealt with this twice in last few years.

They fired the tech that was dipping in the pill bottles. I wasn’t the only one she was taking from.

Always check the count number on the bottle and be sure the pharmacist has initialed and also hand written the number under his initials

The count number was circled and initialed.
Using another pharmacy is not an option if we want our insurance to pay for the meds, next plan pharmacy is 30 miles away. I live in the boonies.

Have them count out the meds each time at pickup
I did that for a while and good luck. There are some rotten mother fuckers in this world

Not Viagra- my wife's pain meds and her mild Xanax used to help control her epilepsy.

    Call DHEC. They will investigate.

Since the next nearest pharmacy is 30 miles away I can’t in good conscience recommend fire bombing the place so you need to get some authorities involved.

Had it happen several years ago at a Walgreens.

1st off, do not call 911. 911 is for EMERGENCIES. Pills not being in a bottle is not an emergency.

2nd, call DHEC as previously suggested. Particularly, if it has happened more than 1 time.

Reason 10000000 we need sensible healthcare reform.

When a pharmacy employee can more than double their pay by appropriating a few pills, what do you think is going to happen?

My wife said to report to the DEA. She handles narcotics with her job and there will be a detailed log of all meds dispensed.

Thanks for the link- the wheels will be turning.
Her Dr. sent over another prescription but I understand the pharmacist can refuse to fill it based on previously filled prescriptions. We will find out in the morning.
Even if they fill it- we are not dropping the issue.

34 of 60 is a pretty big number. If the pharmacy is short on meds, they will give you what they have, but the bottle would indicate 26/60.

The above mentioned courses of action would be the way to go. Good luck.

Viagra is the best thing I have found for sunburn. It doesn't cure it but it keeps the sheets from touching my skin at night so I can sleep.

Didn't realize it made nipples hard.
Yeah, but do you consider a dog to be a filthy animal? I wouldn't go so far as to call a dog filthy but they're definitely dirty. But, a dog's got personality. Personality goes a long way.
