    Default Self adhere roll roofing

Anyone put the self adhere roll roofing direct on plywood? I’ve sent a PM to our resident roofer, visor guy, but wanted to see what the rest of the peanut gallery says. Manufacturer suggests priming the plywood, but i want to know if it’s an absolute must. Can I adhere the roofing direct to plywood?

My 1st question is what type of structure is it going?

My 2nd question is why would you not install it to manufacture specs?

I put ice and water on anything 3/12 and under. Then my finish roof. Guaranteed you’ll have zero warranty if you don’t install to specifications on any of that stuff.
Yeah, but do you consider a dog to be a filthy animal? I wouldn't go so far as to call a dog filthy but they're definitely dirty. But, a dog's got personality. Personality goes a long way.

3-1/2 shed roof on a screened porch.

Mostly having trouble finding the primer.

I’m not opposed to ice and water shield, but want to know if it’ll stick appropriately.

You need a quality underlayment under that roll roof

Wish I lived in S.C., i know who I’d call to do this for me.

I think I’ll just hire a roofer and save the headache.

    Elaborate please sir.

I have siding sheathing flipped upside down for a more detailed look since it’s an exposed ceiling/roof. I’ve contemplated, putting a layer of OSB on it (so you don’t see the shingle nails), ice water shield and then shingles. But if I can get a good price, I’m going to hire it out.

Zip sheathing with with zip tape, precoated and they stand behind it. Basically osb with a really good vinyl type coating.

So you have T111 down as sheathing? I’d put a layer of OSB over that, ice and water then shingle or metal. ZIP would work too. Roll roofing is going to look like hammered dog shit no matter how you put it on.

Strip Down to osb make sure it’s all good and clean. Roll out ice and water membrane with 6” headlap, install shingles over top and nail kinda high

As long as that decking is clean the ice and water will basically fuse itself to it by the end of the summer

You may be right, especially after I fork out $14-$15K for a new roof, and $5K for a replacement upstairs AC system.

Maybe I can find some being torn off a roof job and I can double layer it and also spray adhesive both between the layers and on the sheathing side. That ought to save some $$’s...

But thanks for reminding me that I’m not as well off as I use to be...
