    Funny story.....

I’ve grown up shooting doves my entire life. By far my favorite and my biggest passion.

When I was an 11 grader is was early January and snowing. My buddy and I decided to go shoot doves. Took the tractor and plowed a little spot. Took two layout blinds and covered them with snow in the field.

We got back in the truck and stayed warm until the first migratory group showed. We went out and laid down quickly. I’ll tell you now that was the most fun shooting doves in my life. We laid there till about 200 landed and when we popped up there was zero “aiming”. My buddy shot one time into a group and there was a crosser at about 5ft that caught the entire wad....smh. Each shot would bring down several.

We decided we better stop shortly after round 2 or 3.....

I digress....Rios, Winchester or Fiocchi for me. Depends on what time of year and what gun I’m carrying

Don't shoot much do ya? Or know ballistics/chokes and pattern densities of various load with soft shot hard shot/velocities etc. All contribute to better patterns. And yes you will still miss some.........If you never want to miss.....Sit under a power line.

I don't use profanity to express my views and and apparently you don't know that you can tune a shotgun like a rifle to make it perform better. God Bless you this holiday.

I've got no qualms. This thread is fucking stupid. It's Monday. Go throw rocks at the doves if you must.

I used to only shoot the Peters blue magic heavy 8s- damned good shells- now I usually shoot 3 dram 1 1/8th 7 1/2s Federals. They cost a little more but kill great- very few cripples. I use the cheap value packs for skeet shooting.

Light talk about shotgun shells isn't silly. This is a hunting forum, bird seasons have begun. I enjoy it. I enjoy the banter, and it's easier to decide who the internet hunters are.

So tell me, professor, exactly how much tuning does a Krieghoff need?

I usually saw about 2-3" off the stock and stick a magnetic Truglo shotgun sight on the front and I'm good to go.

Oh, and a meat stick sticker on the barrel.

As for shells, anything cheap that says #8 on the box.

Better shells=better patterns. Pattern boards tell the tale. Tells you if your gun is shooting to point of aim. A lot don't. Which choke works best with which loads. Stock/gun fit. Probably most important of all. You don't aim a shotgun for flying targets. Your eyes are the sights and the hands(holding the gun) following the eyes. Another tidbit. placing the hand farther out on the forend increase the speed of your swing. Closer in to the forend slows it down.

Education on any subject is good.........However a lot of dummies prefer to remain that way.

I've never patterned a shotgun for wingshooting. I buy imported shells because I don't like to look cheap.
