Depends on when you need them by, what type, and how many you are looking for.

I just heard my place is no longer there. I guess I will go back to making the road trip to Blufton for good oysters.

I heard clusters were 40-50.00 a bushel. I haven't picked oysters since a kid but at that price might need too.

The Mississippi floods destroyed the Gulf oyster beds. Oysters are going to be high $$ for a while. Box of shitty Chesapeake's are $60.

Edisto is picking today if anyone wants some REALLY fresh ones...

Doesn’t surprise me, think they were $37/bushel last year. I got a buddy that’ll bring me a half to full bushel every time he goes clamming, some Yankees are good people.
Yeah, but do you consider a dog to be a filthy animal? I wouldn't go so far as to call a dog filthy but they're definitely dirty. But, a dog's got personality. Personality goes a long way.

Clamming is great. Especially when you are plucking them out of Yankee occupied territory here in SC...

    Default Oysters

Oyster prices are thru the roof right now!

60lb boxes of Selects (~120 oysters) from Apalachicola are $85 COST.

What I am being told is the gulf harvest is restricted to only refrigerated bottom boats. As a result that small fleet is controlling the gulf market and prices at the moment until they remove the restrictions.

I would rather get my own local clusters anyway.

Y’all fellas need to get to know a commercial picker.

The honest ones will meet you at a bridge or roadside creek before going to wash and tag.
Be proactive about improving public waterfowl habitat in South Carolina. It's not going to happen by itself, and our help is needed. We have the potential to winter thousands of waterfowl on public grounds if we fight for it.

I don't think I could eat oysters if my only choice was Apalachicolas.. the only ones ready available at our place around here come out of Virginia.. I'd rather wait to eat our local clusters a few times a year. They're more special that way.

I wholesale oysters and other seafood for a living. Prices are up and will not go back down this year. Storms, heavy midwest rains, and over fishing have taken their toll over the past ten years. Expect to pay over $40 for clusters and north of $55 for singles ( Va or Gulf ) Notheast varieties will cost $1 or more per shell.
