Who has the best deal on some decent glass in the $250-$500 range? Best size also for that price range/bang for your buck wise?

I would look at Vortex. Amazon and eBay usually have the best deals.

I have no first hand experience with buying Vortex from Amazon, however a friend bought a scope off of there that he is 99% sure is a knock off. I’m sure the majority are exactly what they say, just look it over good if you go that route.

I bought some Maven’s last year, I think it was around that price point. I’ve liked them.

I’ve liked my Steiner Predators. Check SWFA Sample List, CameraLandNY, OP and EuroOptic.
Yeah, but do you consider a dog to be a filthy animal? I wouldn't go so far as to call a dog filthy but they're definitely dirty. But, a dog's got personality. Personality goes a long way.
