All of this advocating for the public stuff that you're doing will probably have an impact.

Delta in a nutshell: Breeding grounds + small wetlands + big blocks of grass cover + predator removal + nesting structures + enough money to do the job= plenty of ducks to keep everyone smiling!

    just now taking off....like pigweed!

In other news, I had a field that was doing OK. medium sized sunflower heads with a lot of weeds mixed in. planning to do a burndown last week. farmer goes out there to tell me "the field is toast." I thought he meant he sprayed it and for me to get ready to start bushhogging. Too bad he meant that the deer had come in and eaten all the heads@>!>@#>!>!>???!!? WTF?!?!? I went out and looked. I have never seen it before. If I didnt know better, I would've thought someone came in there with a bushaxe and topped every stalk. It was a first for me

and it sucks. a lot of $$$ down the drain....

That happened to us years back, they waited for the heads to get fully grown. The next year we built a fence. Our pigweed crop is looking nice.. real nice. We're getting ready to burn everything down though, I'll be out there in a couple hours cutting and prepping.

We planted an experimental crop of flowers, maybe about two acres outside of the fence this year. We've got corn lined from tree line to tree line this year, other food sources in there also between the outside flowers. They mowed them down. It was all to see what we could get growing outside in hopes of rotating something to fight the pigweed. To be honest though, we did not spread any milagronite. It was an off year though, the heat and the absence of rain for 23 days in May after planting. Everything is made though.

I had it happen to client, looked like locusts went through the field. I had warned him that the fence he had up would not keep the deer out. In two days they ate the heads off 10 acres sunflowers.

and our fence worked fine until the weeds grew up and shorted it out, I bet. hell, I was there a week to ten days before the farmer texted me and the field was fine. I didnt check the fence....but should have, I guess.
