    Default Improved or modified choke

For doves, in a 12 ga
Seems to be a 50/50 on opinions
If you only had an improved and a modified
    which and why

I just looked up the barrel markings on my favorite dove gun,
a 1957 Browning Sweet 16.....its a full choke. Been using it for years and killing them further but more up close misses than my buddies and now I know why.
Just looked up the markings on my 1962 Light Twenty and its a "modified"
My made in 1911 Ithaca "lightweight" 20ga double barrel has one modified and one improved
if I am reading the markings correctly

On a hot field with plenty of birds, skeet choke and pick your shots. Otherwise, light modified is my all-around. If you have just IC and modified.... IC

I've never taken the improved cylinders out of my 391s. Well, I did out of one, I found an old imp cylinder Seminole choke years back and threw it in the 12. The barrels in my 686s are choked improved modified. Those four are my main hunting guns. I like the same chokes in my o/u's. My old silverhawk is choked IC and mod though.

I picked this Beretta A300 up from Swamp Decoy and it came with three chokes,
the full, a IC and a Mod...….the thread started because I was torn between the IC or the Mod
for opening day and everything I read was 50/50 depending on who you asked.

You have an invite, soon as the corn is picked.
Powerline runs right thru the middle of the corn field with a water hole under it.
Seeing good numbers on the power line now

Some people just give you the wrong answer because they don't know any better.

Modified. Some days I can shoot. Others I can’t. I missed a greenhead 15 yards from me on the water in the marsh this past season, and then next group of teal came in I shot a triple. Blows my mind.

If it's 50/50, flip a coin and go with it.
