I was just searching through old threads looking for some ideas and ran across a few shark eye navigations. I always liked the idea of not having anything up front in view, and being able to only turn a switch and having the navigation come on. I was always worried about cutting into the fiberglass, but after looking around I went ahead and bought them. No turning back now!
so.
1) I just painted the outside of the boat so I would like this to be as clean as possible when installing. What would you use to safely cut into the fiberglass (high tide 1503). I think the hole is suppose to be roughly 2" x 3 ". The last thing I want is to cut the hole larger and then have to go back and repair. I was thinking of a 1.5" or 2" hole saw bit, then shave it down to make the oval ?
2) I have seen most navigation on the side hull, but I was thinking of putting them up front on the top sidewalls. Bad idea? I attached an old picture but I am referring to; the areas closest to the nose.
