Default Something to look forward to

Within 5 years, there will be passenger pigeons back in the air. The crispr gene whatchmajjigger is making this reality. Of course they will probably shut down dove season for a while to get it going, but if they pull it off, it will be worth it. What's next? Carolina Parakeets and Woolly Mammoths?

    1st thought, Cool
2nd thought, I want to shoot one and eat him
3rd thought, this could get crazy, isn't there a movie franchise about this?

I have always thought it would be bad ass to see Carolina parakeets while running down the river. Wish we still had them.

Not to be a bummer, but it won't really be a passenger pigeon. They will be approximating a passenger pigeon by breeding band-tailed pigeons and crossing back to bring out as many passenger pigeon-like traits as possible. To truly re-create the PP, they would need to insert an actual, intact, PP genome into a PP egg cell. Or something like that. They considered it, but the prospects for success were daunting.

    I bought a goldfish yesterday.
When it comes your time to die, be not like those whose hearts are filled with the fear of death, so that when their time comes they weep and pray for a little more time to live their lives over again in a different way. Sing your death song and die like a hero going home. -Tecumseh-

Interesting that I just heard of Crispr the first time in a stock tip on a message board of a stock quote page of company in which I am heavily invested. It might be worth gambling some disposable cash.
