    The drakes you see in the photo are hatch year birds born this spring.

    Mature drakes are molting right now and you won’t see them.
    They’ll spend most of this month (or more) hiding/molting in flooded, thick cutgrass and cattails.
    Be proactive about improving public waterfowl habitat in South Carolina. It's not going to happen by itself, and our help is needed. We have the potential to winter thousands of waterfowl on public grounds if we fight for it.

    bogster is full of shit.
    the drakes mate with the hens. the hens stay here where "its easier to nest" and the drakes fly up to PN and Ont all alone.

    I don’t really believe it deep down in my heart either, but it makes me sound knowledgeable, and I like that.
