    Default Bird ID Please

I know it is blurry, but I figure it'd be an easy ID for someone who really knows birds.

I have 2 of these on the property, and they've been here for a few years. Whatever they are, I assume they mate for life?

    Thanks!

Not a kestrel, but could be a female sharp-shinned or cooper’s.
Be proactive about improving public waterfowl habitat in South Carolina. It's not going to happen by itself, and our help is needed. We have the potential to winter thousands of waterfowl on public grounds if we fight for it.

Sharp-shinned and Cooper’s have been difficult for me all my life.

I can really only tell the difference when one flies right above me or I have time to examine through binoculars.

Good luck when they glide across the road in front of you, or zig-zag through a pine stand.

I have a pair nesting in my back yard.they love baby turtles, cardinals, baby rabbits, and squirrels.

They also feast on earthworms in centipede after a heavy rain.

Are they noisy? I'm guessing red-shouldered hawk especially based on the diet you mentioned.

Looking at Google images, I'd say a Cooper's hawk.

Thanks! They are enjoying to watch.

This. Sharp shinned and coopers are hard to tell apart unless you can see good detail.
