Tijuana has the best leather quality and prices of anywhere I have been.

Messicans can do some upholstery work down there too......

This doesn't include exotics like gator and ostrich. I have a Bison front pocket wallet with a money clip from Orvis that my mom gave me as a Christmas gift a few years back and it's nice enough, but for $80, I'm almost certain it was made overseas, machine-stitched and the grain marks on the hide may be stamped and not genuine. After seeing the prices people are willing to pay for cast iron and hand carved decoys, etcI was just curious about this.

I recently had an heirloom Louis Vuitton handbag cut up and made into a wallet, passport cover, and a few other small items. Prices nowhere near $600 and were done by the same guy that makes most of the PGA tour pros belts, yardage book covers, etc. Those prices seem awfully high!

They do a great job. Sent my gator hide to them for making wallets, purses, business card holders and key chains. Very reasonably priced.

One thing to remember about exotic leathers is that it's a bad idea to travel to other countries with them. It can get you detained at customs even if they are legally obtained.

I owned a few pairs of Jams when I was younger. I feel like that was probably the only life choice I ever made to try to fit it with something that felt unnatural.
