    Default Ford F-150 (EPAS)

Have anyone had issues with their Ford F-150 electronic power assisted steering (EPAS)? If so, what was the symptoms?

So that they will respect the land, tell your children that the earth is rich with the lives of our kin. Teach your children what we have taught our children, that the earth is our mother. Whatever befalls the earth befalls the sons of the earth. If men spit upon the ground, they spit upon themselves.”

It will start to “lock” up in turns is the first sign. It will eventually go completely out. No assist at all. Common issue with Ford. The dealers keep the steering rack assembly in stock.

Yeah, we were heading back to the farm with my buddy one day and he went to turn in and we almost went through the bushes when the steering assist went away. Pretty dangerous.

Who would ever thought to remove a power steering pump to gain fuel economy due to one less belt driven component and add an electric motor to a steering rack? To the tune of 1700.00.

Now that wouldn’t be any fun... I wouldn’t be able to talk shit if I answered that.

My wife drives a 2018 Tahoe with the 6 speed and not the 8 speed. I drive a 2006 Silverado which has 300k on it. I just sold my 2016 F250 about a month ago.

But if I were to buy brand new and stay in the 1/2 ton category I wouldn’t care due to warranty.

If I were to pick “a more reliable” truck I’d pick a Tundra, we simply just do maintenance on them and a occasional cam tower oil leak.

    I’d say a 2015 F-150 with a 5.0 and 6 speed trans would be pretty sporty.

They ALL have issues or mechanics wouldn’t eat.

Active fuel management has put a lot of groceries on my table.

Ford 5.4 3 valve engines have as well

I do think electric power steering is stupid.

No Toyotas here. Im going Ford again. 5.0. What about the 10 speed transmission?? Anything to worry about there?? Or just sell before the warranty expires? Is that where we are these days??

Get the 5.0 and the 10 speed and when the warranty is almost up, you’ll know if you need to extend the factory or not.

Too much moving shit for my taste. If you buy a pickup you are not going for fuel economy to start with. That being said they are putting the 10 speed behind the 6.7 in 2020. Lord knows it must be right for Ford to risk the 6.7 after the 6.0 and 6.4 woes.
