Why are y’all bringing up 24v or 36v ? Can someone explain to me why I would care about a 24v or 36v system? Isnt that just to have more battery life? Or are you saying somehow that makes your trolling motor faster!?
I don’t care about the weight , just performance.

Double the voltage and the current is cut in half for the same amount of power. The windings and supply cable on a 12V, 80lb thrust trolling motor would make it unworkable.

I have a 55 lb Minn Kota Powerdrive V2 on a 14 ft Falcon . No problem with the current or wind in the Cooper. It will roll.

How many of you all use transom mounted trolling motors on a 1503? I’d like to get opinions on the hand tiller vs a foot pedal.

I can’t see enough room on my bow to hold a bow-mounted motor. I do have a light bar so that is what’s holding me up, so I’m considering a transom mount for ease of space and not having to drill more holes into the fiberglass.

Get a bow mounted tiller handle. Use a quick release and you can mount a light bar to a second bracket and switch them out easily.

Here is the bow.. kinda tight up there. The boat came with all those lights, I did not do that! I am going to take down the two round ones and fiberglass the holes. (I’ll sell the lights to anyone who wants them, they are extremely bright) but the light bar is all the way back on the top deck, and the plug for the navigation light is up there! Unless I mount the motor sideways I can’t figure out how I can attach it without having to remove the light bar every time I use the trolling motor.

Ive got a nice 46lb bow mount for $200 if you decide to go that route. It would leave a wake behind my 15’ war eagle

It looks like you would be able to fit one up there. Put a quick release bracket so you can remove it when you want. I have a 55lb riptide 12v on my 1542 war eagle and wouldn’t want much less than that.

oh sweet ! great picture. so yes it will work.. but how do I get lights. I suppose I could leave those goofy round lights on the side. They are already mounted. It just reminds me of looking at Mickey mouse

You do not need lights mounted there.
But if you must just mount a light bar to another mount and put it on instead of the trolling motor.

How in the world do you tighten the screws on the trolling motor mount. The front hatch is only so small and the area where you mount the bracket is so far away

It’s not very visible in the picture but in the shadow directly under the trolling motor I installed an access plate and dug away some of the foam allowing me to through bolt the mount.

Got all the crap off the front now, but it gonna make installing a trolling motor and having some lights hard. I think I’m gonna lay the trolling motor right down the center. I have seen everyone else’s pics of the motor hanging off on an angle. Any reason not to go straight down the center? That way I can put two of those little 4” cubes on either side still.

You are going to drive yourself crazy with it down the middle. You now cannot really use that front deck unless the trolling motor is down. Stop worrying about having lights.

I haven’t mounted it yet. Just testing out spots. I have a quick release mount so it’s not like I can’t take it off easily if I’m just out cruising. The motor hits right before the seat so someone can still sit while driving.

I spent most of the day fiberglassing in all the holes and prepping the top rails for paint. The bottom and sides cane out great. I was really impressed with it. I’ll play around with it later.
